Shooting a match with iron sights taught me more than I expected

I decided to run iron sights at a match where most people were using optics. It was slower and more demanding especially at distance but it forced me to focus on my fundamentals. When I went back to using an optic at the next match, I shot better and that reminded me that irons teach you the basics and optics build on them. Who agrees?

I actually spent an entire season running nothing but irons, mostly just to humble myself a bit. But man, the moment I switched back to the dot, it felt like I suddenly had superpowers. I guess you just have to make things harder on yourself to really appreciate how good the easy stuff is.
