Goodbye carbine gas?

With all the components we have today, is there still a real benefit to using carbine gas on a 16" rifle?

Carbine gas is like that old pickup that starts every morning. Mid-length is nicer to shoot but carbine gas usually runs no matter what crap ammo, weak ammo or dirty parts you throw at it.

I wouldn’t say it’s gone but it feels outdated on a 16. Mid length just does everything a little nicer, it is hard to justify carbine unless you already have parts sitting around.
