just got a 10/22, now what upgrades?

hey y'all, just picked up my first 10/22 and wow, I get why folks rave about it! it shoots awesome right outta the box, but the customization is what really hooked me. I don’t wanna go crazy with upgrades just yet, but I’m looking for tips on what to do first. any mods or upgrades you did that really made a difference or made it more fun? let me know what you think is worth it!

I'd start with a better trigger and maybe a stock upgrade, it makes a huge difference in feel and accuracy. After that, optics or a sling are fun but not necessary right away

For mine, I started by upgrading the trigger and adding a scope, both made it way more accurate and fun. What upgrades are you planning first?

are you looking to turn your 10/22 into more of a precision shooter with optics and trigger work, or just keep it simple and fun with a few comfort upgrades?

10/22s are great!
As you said, they shoot great out of the box, but yes, there are a ton of aftermarket parts and upgrades, too. As already said, the trigger is a good place to start. Its also easy to re barrel them, as its just 2 screws and a V block. Ive had good luck with 1 in bull barrels, for sure. Green Mountain seems to come to mind.
Volquartsen is another that makes alot of 10/22 stuff, but pretty expensive. I can be pretty rough on some of my farm guns, so I really like the Hogue black rubber overmoulded stocks. A sling is always handy for a woods rifle, and Ive run everything from a 4x weaver to a 4 to 14 x varmint scope, they all seem to do well when you settle on a brand of 22 ammo it likes. Ive always had good luck with federal, but ive seen some that like this, and wont shoot that. Aguila standard velocity and Hi velocity seems to work well too

Careful. These things are addictive. Like you've found out, there's an insane amount of aftermarket parts and mods.

I'd recommend a decent, but not too expensive 3-9x40 scope, some good AR500 targets and a bunch of ammo. Hearing that "ding" is quite satisfying. I'm building a dueling tree for me and my buddy to play with. Amazon has a 10 target kit for around $100. Just gotta get a piece of angle iron and do a little welding.
