Lubricants

Manufacturers usually suggest certain lubricants for winter storage. Do these suggestions match what you've seen in practice, or have you found other methods that work better?

The manufacturer's recos are generally pretty reliable but I found that using a bit less lube than they suggest works better for me in really cold conditions. If you use too much, things can start to feel sluggish. I also like to give the external parts a quick wipe with a light oil to keep rust from forming due to condensation.
