Mid length?

For those putting together 16"ARs, is mid-length the go-to option or are carbine systems still contenders?

For a 16-inch barrel, a mid-length gas system is the way to go if you know what you are doing. Sure, the carbine gas system still works but it's kind of old-school. The main reason it's still around is that parts are easy to find

If you are starting from scratch, go with a mid-length gas system. If you already have a carbine gas system and it works fine, don't worry about it. It depends on what you are doing...

I like the midlength system, but carbine is fine as well. I have built quite a few over the years, including full rifle size, also a few AR10's. All about attention to detail.

Yep, details make the difference. Gas system matter but careful assembly and tuning usually separate a smooth rifle from a finicky one

Just by coincidence, there was a man recently mentioned to me on another forum that he had never seen a reliable AR10! I replied, I have three that run just fine with a variety of ammunition, one I had assembled from a mostly Spikes Tactical parts kit with a Heavy Criterion barrel, the other two a factory DPMS GII Varmint and a Fulton Armory 20 inch Service Rifle.
