Revolver? Semi-auto?
Home protection or concealed carry or hunting?
If home protection, and your first handgun, I would recommend a revolver. Less to think about, and super reliable. But on the other hand if it’s solely home protection, there’s nothing like a pump shotgun. Something about the sound of racking a shell into the chamber…..

My main focus is on home defense. I’ve had some experience at the range with both revolvers and semi-autos, so I’m not a total newbie, just new to owning a gun. I completely get why people recommend revolvers for their simplicity. But still, I find myself leaning towards steel-frame semi-autos because I enjoy how they shoot and the recoil is pretty gentle. The shotgun debate is really tough to ignore
